Merry Christmukah

Today's absurdity:
To give multifaith families an opportunity to celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah, Loews Hotels will add a "Christmukah" menu in the restaurants of the Regency in New York, Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel in California, and Loews Miami Beach Hotel during the last two weeks of December.

Among the selections: Shalom Santagria, made with Manischevitz wine; Christmukah Cheer, a mint cocktail with a hint of chocolate from Israeli Sabra liquor and hot cocoa with Star of David gingerbread cookies. Visit www.loewshotels.com for more info.

If celebrating Christmukah means drinking Sangria made with screw-top kiddush wine, I'll take latkes and sufganiyot any day.

That sangria drink makes me feel about as queasy as Chrismukah does.

What is it with Manischewitz wine? Because Sandler put it in a song? Earlier? Do any Orthodox people actually buy Manischewitz wine?!

It may be absurd but how cool that something Jewish has such an impact, the only mark a Jewish holiday leaves where I live is less parking space and increased security

I have a story involving a younger Shifra and a bottle of Maneschevitz... Believe me...It's nothing I'd want to see in print.

Hee hee. My brother (aged 9) managed to get tipsy at the seder on maneshevitz wine. long time ago.

But blech! Although I was wondering who to complain to that the local public school has an Xmas tree but nothing else. . . .

I recently found Maneschewitzz wine for sale in a supermarket in a small town in south Texas. As well as Hebrew National franks in the deli section.

Considering that the population of this town appeared to be about 70% Mexican-American and 30% Anglo redneck Bible thumping Protestant, I'm curious about who who was buying that particular merchandise.

Me, I bought some tortilla chips, hot salsa, and a six-pack of Lone Star beer.
