More Obama-Bashing

This is classic (emphasis all mine):
Assemblyman Dov Hikind yesterday predicted that Jewish voters would make "a mass movement toward Sen. McCain" if Barack Obama knocks Hillary Rodham Clinton out of the race in tomorrow's critical Democratic primaries.

Hikind, an Orthodox Jew whose Borough Park district includes the largest Hasidic bloc in the United States, blasted Obama for what he called his half-hearted support of Israel and his ties to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., who has repeatedly praised anti-Semitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who has endorsed Obama.

Hikind, a Democrat who has yet to endorse a candidate for president, said Obama had not satisfactorily distanced himself from Wright, his Chicago-based personal pastor, noting, "This is a man who thinks Farrakhan is a great guy and God's gift to the world."

Hikind went on, "Obama has said that you can be a supporter of Israel even if you're for giving up land to the Arabs, which is true - but for a guy running for president to take a position like this in advance of getting into office, combined with everything else going on in the Middle East, that scares the hell out of me.
Huh? It "scares the hell" out of Hikind that Obama says you can support Israel and still be for giving up land for Israel? What world does he live in? Does he think Hillary Clinton feels otherwise?? Most US politicians would admit that any peaceful settlement would include some concession of land to the Palestinians. Does Hikind actually expect Mr. Obama to take a public position on the matter that is to the right of GWB's current position?? And then what? Flip-flop after the election to a position more in line with just about every other politician in the country?? That sounds like a super idea. And did Mr. Hikind somehow miss when Mr. Obama clearly rejected and denounced Mr. Farrakhan, and called him out for being an anti-Semite? That Mr. Hikind feels that Obama hasn't distanced himself enough from Rev. Wright, who is claimed to be close to Farrakhan, is no more than guilt by association. Is such association more or less damning than Mr. Hikind's past association with Meir Kahana's militant Jewish Defense League and various other controversial settler groups?

I would guess Mr. Hikind is simply trying to do more of the same ignorant fearmongering about Obama that we have seen recently from other members of the Jewish community.

you're clueless orthomom, you really are. if you at all knew how to read between then lines when politicians speak you'd know that Obama has red flags swirling all around him which suggest he's very bad for israel. how about you take a long hard look at the backgrounds of his foreign policy staff and the people from prior administrations he's sought out help from.

you and the rest of the orthodox jews that are ostensibly somewhat intelligent yet fail to see the warning signs because you want to be a part of the hype really do disgust me.

i'm not even saying obama will be awful for israel. but i am saying anyone even moderately versed in politics knows there are very good reasons to be concerned about obama.

also, hikind's possibly being a hypocrite doesn't make his point less true.

What makes you think that OM supports Obama. Based on this one (and the previous one) she, quite correctly, is simply speaking out against the fearmongering and plain silliness that is being expressed in the jewish community about Obama. Unless Hikind was somehow misquoted, how CAN you pin Obama with anti-Israel views for expressing middle of the road views about the peace process? Hikind would be better off just asserting that Obama is lying than saying that expressing views no different than Hillary or McCain somehow "scares the hell" out of him.

Someone once called Hikind the "Jewish Al Sharpton." But with statements as nonsensical as this, that moniker may actually be giving him too much credit.

Excellent post by Orthomom.
Of interest might be the reuslts of the primary held in Israel amoung American Israelis-54% for Clinton 45 % for Obama. Thus. Americans living in Israel who certainly treat Israel's security to be paramount only marginally preferred Clinton to Obama.

or how about Zbignew "Green Belt" Brezinski, who helped give Iran and Al Queda their start?

How about Tony Rezko, the lovely Arab chap for whom Obama pushed to build a senior residence on a toxic waste site, whose company was fronted by the grandson of Elijah Muhammad.

That's the kind of rotten amoral filth you're carrying water for Orthomom.

It's not Hikind we should be disgusted by you. It's you.

And next time you feel the need to post on this, try to back up your baseless defenses of Obama with actual proof. Because the ignorant one here is you.

I guess Mr. Hikind did not read this:

New York, NY, January 15, 2008 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today welcomed Barack Obama's statement strongly condemning the anti-Semitism of Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan. The Senator's statement came in response to reports that his minister, Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., leader of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, had honored Farrakhan as one who "truly epitomized greatness."

Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, issued the following statement:

We welcome Barack Obama's condemnation of the anti-Semitic rhetoric of Minister Louis Farrakhan, and his making clear that he did not agree with his church's decision to honor Farrakhan with the Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award.

Issues of racism and anti-Semitism must be beyond the bounds of politics. When someone close to a political figure shows sympathy and support for an individual who makes his name espousing bigotry, that political figure needs to distance himself from that decision. Senator Obama has done just that.

http://www.adl.org/PresRele/NatIsl_81/5208_81.htm

Now if only we could have the same outrage about Senator McCain being "honored" to accept the endorsement of Pastor John Hagee who has called the Catholic Church "The Great Whore".

So, to use Mr. Hikind's logic:

Senator McCain is endorsed by an anti-catholic bigot, therefore, McCain must be an anti-catholic bigot, therefore, anyone voting for McCain must be an anti-catholic bigot.

further proof you're insane if you support obama and care about israel is his chief foreign policy advisor, samantha power. of course if you support obama you're probably so clueless you don't know who that is.

go look up and see her views over the past many decades. here's a taste via wiki
"In a 2002 interview at Berkeley, that has been widely criticized, Power proposed that instead of encouraging negotiations between Israelis and Arabs, the United States should spend "billions of dollars" to send a " meaningful military" force to effect the "imposition of a solution" and create "the new state of Palestine" beside Israel. In March 2008, Power described her previous opinion as "weird."

So show your true colors, get lambasted and then respond "oh, my prior idea was 'weird.'"

Again, if you don't realize where obama stands and vote for him don't ever tell anyone you are about israel because you don't.

I suspect that quite a lot of posters here were great admirers of the Bush-Rice approach to the middle east but are now horrified by the consequences. Squeezing Israel to cover up the gigantic error of upsetting the balance of power and placing Ahminajad in Bagdad with the power and influence to threaten Israel daily via Hamas and Islamic Jihad is the residue of Bush-Rice.

The only one we Jews should have confidence in is Hillary because we know Israel had 100% support during the last Clinton administration.

OM: You are 100% correct that every single US candidate advocates Israel giving away "Land for Peace."

Clinton, Obama and even John McCain believe that -- and I can't say that I blame them.

Every single Prime Minister of Israel in the past 16 years has advocated the same equation (including Netanayahu and Sharon), so I honestly don't understand why Hikind is so freaked out, davka over Obama.

If Hikind is seriously so concerned about the future of Israel from a "land for peace" perspective, he should move to Israel where his vote and voice can actually count.

Perhaps he forgot that the Oslo process kept the US in the dark and was totally masterminded by Israeli Labor and Meretz parties...without any pressure whatsoever from the US. If I recall correctly, the US State Dept was shocked at how far Israel was willing to go...

GWB and the USA didn't prevent the Gaza disengagement from happening, so why is he so sure that Obama is the devil incarnate?

Ultimately, the free ride for Israel and its hard line lobby will end regardless of who gets into the White House this year and that includes John McCain. At the end of the day, is Barack Hussein Obama more or less biased than the other candidates? Maybe, maybe not.

But his personal and political associations offer tantalizing clues -- and they are not uniformly reassuring ones, either.

For instance, a close advisor, until she called Hillary a "monster," was Samantha Power. Ms. Power said that she would have no problem if the US invaded Israel:

http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=29126&only&rss

On the plus side, Obama has lately disappointed Ali Abunimah, co-founder of the Electronic Intifada, a pro Palestinian website. Ali writes that Obama used to be pro Palestinian before it became fashionable:

http://ztruth.typepad.com/ztruth/2008/03/barack-obama--.html

Add the love from Farrakhan, and Obama's admiration for Zbignew Brzezinski, and you've got yourself a little conspiracy theory going.

Listen, would he not treat Israel honorably if elected? Hard to say. But if you looked at the raw data, you'd be hard pressed to say that he'd necessarily be a friend to Israel. Combined with the State Department's traditonal emnity toward Israel, and you've got a recipe for disaster, or at least indigestion.

Everything else is just static.

But, the only choice those who also have Israel's interests at heart as well as those of America's can actually make is electing the least potentially dangerous candidate to office. Starting with BO's mother through his pastor through his wife through his friends and through one of the most content vacuous campaign rhetorics I have lived through, I would suggest that the junior Senator from Illinois is not the best choice.

Obama and the Minister
By RONALD KESSLER
March 14, 2008; Page A19

In a sermon delivered at Howard University, Barack Obama's longtime minister, friend and adviser blamed America for starting the AIDS virus, training professional killers, importing drugs and creating a racist society that would never elect a black candidate president.

The Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., pastor of Mr. Obama's Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, gave the sermon at the school's Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel in Washington on Jan. 15, 2006.

Trinity United Church of Christ/Religion News Service
Sen. Barack Obama and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright
"We've got more black men in prison than there are in college," he began. "Racism is alive and well. Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run. No black man will ever be considered for president, no matter how hard you run Jesse [Jackson] and no black woman can ever be considered for anything outside what she can give with her body."

Mr. Wright thundered on: "America is still the No. 1 killer in the world. . . . We are deeply involved in the importing of drugs, the exporting of guns, and the training of professional killers . . . We bombed Cambodia, Iraq and Nicaragua, killing women and children while trying to get public opinion turned against Castro and Ghadhafi . . . We put [Nelson] Mandela in prison and supported apartheid the whole 27 years he was there. We believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God."

His voice rising, Mr. Wright said, "We supported Zionism shamelessly while ignoring the Palestinians and branding anybody who spoke out against it as being anti-Semitic. . . . We care nothing about human life if the end justifies the means. . . ."

Concluding, Mr. Wright said: "We started the AIDS virus . . . We are only able to maintain our level of living by making sure that Third World people live in grinding poverty. . . ."

Considering this view of America, it's not surprising that in December Mr. Wright's church gave an award to Louis Farrakhan for lifetime achievement. In the church magazine, Trumpet, Mr. Wright spoke glowingly of the Nation of Islam leader. "His depth on analysis [sic] when it comes to the racial ills of this nation is astounding and eye-opening," Mr. Wright said of Mr. Farrakhan. "He brings a perspective that is helpful and honest."

After Newsmax broke the story of the award to Farrakhan on Jan. 14, Mr. Obama issued a statement. However, Mr. Obama ignored the main point: that his minister and friend had spoken adoringly of Mr. Farrakhan, and that Mr. Wright's church was behind the award to the Nation of Islam leader.

Instead, Mr. Obama said, "I decry racism and anti-Semitism in every form and strongly condemn the anti-Semitic statements made by Minister Farrakhan. I assume that Trumpet magazine made its own decision to honor Farrakhan based on his efforts to rehabilitate ex-offenders, but it is not a decision with which I agree." Trumpet is owned and produced by Mr. Wright's church out of the church's offices, and Mr. Wright's daughters serve as publisher and executive editor.

Meeting with Jewish leaders in Cleveland on Feb. 24, Mr. Obama described Mr. Wright as being like "an old uncle who sometimes will say things that I don't agree with." He rarely mentions the points of disagreement.

Mr. Obama went on to explain Mr. Wright's anti-Zionist statements as being rooted in his anger over the Jewish state's support for South Africa under its previous policy of apartheid. As with his previous claim that his church gave the award to Mr. Farrakhan because of his work with ex-offenders, Mr. Obama appears to have made that up.

Neither the presentation of the award nor the Trumpet article about the award mentions ex-offenders, and Mr. Wright's statements denouncing Israel have not been qualified in any way. Mr. Obama nonetheless told the Jewish leaders that the award to Mr. Farrakhan "showed a lack of sensitivity to the Jewish community." That is an understatement.

As for Mr. Wright's repeated comments blaming America for the 9/11 attacks because of what Mr. Wright calls its racist and violent policies, Mr. Obama has said it sounds as if the minister was trying to be "provocative."

Hearing Mr. Wright's venomous and paranoid denunciations of this country, the vast majority of Americans would walk out. Instead, Mr. Obama and his wife Michelle have presumably sat through numerous similar sermons by Mr. Wright.

Indeed, Mr. Obama has described Mr. Wright as his "sounding board" during the two decades he has known him. Mr. Obama has said he found religion through the minister in the 1980s. He joined the church in 1991 and walked down the aisle in a formal commitment of faith.

The title of Mr. Obama's bestseller "The Audacity of Hope" comes from one of Wright's sermons. Mr. Wright is one of the first people Mr. Obama thanked after his election to the Senate in 2004. Mr. Obama consulted Mr. Wright before deciding to run for president. He prayed privately with Mr. Wright before announcing his candidacy last year.

Mr. Obama obviously would not choose to belong to Mr. Wright's church and seek his advice unless he agreed with at least some of his views. In light of Mr. Wright's perspective, Michelle Obama's comment that she feels proud of America for the first time in her adult life makes perfect sense.

Much as most of us would appreciate the symbolism of a black man ascending to the presidency, what we have in Barack Obama is a politician whose closeness to Mr. Wright underscores his radical record.

The media have largely ignored Mr. Obama's close association with Mr. Wright. This raises legitimate questions about Mr. Obama's fundamental beliefs about his country. Those questions deserve a clearer answer than Mr. Obama has provided so far.

Mr. Kessler, a former Wall Street Journal and Washington Post reporter, is chief Washington correspondent of Newsmax.com and the author of "The Terrorist Watch: Inside the Desperate Race to Stop the Next Attack" (Crown Forum, 2007).

As a friend told me, this Obama smearing is simply because he offers real change and an opportunity to clean up the sewer our country has become.

I have co-workers who attend Obama's church. Would we say they are unfit for their jobs because they feel the call of Hashem to worship there?

Might I offer you the words of the late Russell Kirk, "Tel Aviv is not the capital of US" and as American citizens it behooves us to vote for the presidential candidate we believe will do the best job for this country. If you think it's McCain or Clinton based on that assessment fine. If you are allowing dual loyalism to influence your vote you should stay home in November!

4:57 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

David L. and those like him definitely fit within the Obama camp since all they offer is rhetoric with no thought or substance.

1. "Obama smearing is simply because he offers real change ..."
Are you on the Obama payroll? That's just pure rhetoric. What change? He just talks, but he's never done anything of real significance. Moreover, the people he surrounds himself offer only change which does not interest me in the least (e.g. anti-israel policies).

2. You have co-workers who attend the same church. Great. Who cares?

Moreover, they should ask themselves what they'd think if their co-workers went to a church with a white pastor who blamed America's ills on African-Americans and said he hated America for it. I'd say if they did not find a new church I'd have some problems with them.

3. This is a fallacy which is devoid of any rational reasoning.

First, no one has an obligation to do anything with their vote other than vote their own self-interest. That is what it means to have the right to vote.

Second, many can reasonably believe Israel's best interests and America's best interests are aligned. This believe is held by many (most?) knowledgeable of the geopolitical realities of today.

I would submit that Anon 6:10 has no ability to think and offers only rhetoric. For the record I voted for Ron Paul in the Republican primary in Illinois in February and will probably reluctantly support John McCain in the fall despite his support for a bad war in Iraq.

My point is that the hallmark of good citizenship is to put your country first and you can't do that if you follow Anon 6:10's approach.

great. you simply say i only offer rhetoric after i, in detail, explain how you had no substance in your first post.

I pointed out you offered no substance and countered that Obama's company is extremely disturbing, particularly his foreign policy staff.

I further pointed out how you played the childish anecdotal game of "I know someone who.." and explained why that's meaningless

I then explained to you why your approach to how one ought to vote is absurd. It is not only absurd but indeed dangerous.

"My point is that the hallmark of good citizenship is to put your country first"

Umm. no. Hamilton, Madison, or any other founding father of this country never thought this was at all true.

In fact, no one except mindless masses who listened to such arguments from future dictators (Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Castro, etc. all used your argument), would take that approach.

The genius and success of our country is built on the principle that like capitalism's invisible hand we all must vote what we think is in our own interest. We often mistake what our own interest actually is, particularly when we focus on the short-term instead of the long-term, but at the end of the day every citizen must vote their own interest for our system of democracy to work.

The hallmark of good citizenship is to know the principle foundations on which our country is built upon and to appreciate how those principles separate us from the atrocities kings and dictators were able to produce.

So, before you get up on your podium to claim you're a great citizen looking out for the interests of the country while other voters are not, you should know a little bit of history and political science.

From The New York Jewish Week

3/19/08

http://thejewishweek.com/viewArticle/c55_a5420/Editorial__Opinion/Opinion.html#
Web Exclusive: My Neighbor, Barack

by Rabbi Arnold Jacob Wolf
Special to the Jewish Week

Not everyone can claim to be the neighbor of a Presidential candidate - I can, though, because I am.

Barack Obama's Chicago home is across the street from KAM Isaiah Israel, the Hyde Park synagogue at which I've served for 27 years. He spoke to our congregation as an Illinois state senator; more recently, his Secret Service agents have made use of our, shall we say, facilities.

But it's not neighborly instinct that's led me to support the Obama candidacy: I support Barack Obama because he stands for what I believe, what our tradition demands.

We sometimes forget, but an integral part of that tradition is dialogue and a willingness to disagree. Certainly many who call me their rabbi have taken political positions farfrom mine - just as Barack Obama's opinions have differed from those of his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

On March 18, the candidate gave a speech that made abundantly clear that he and Wright often disagree. Obama condemned Wright's "incendiary language," and "views that have the potential not only to widen the racial divide, but… that denigrate both the greatness and the goodness of our nation."

Of course, race is only one issue on which Wright has stepped beyond the bounds of civil discourse. He's frequently made statements regarding Israel and the Jewish community that I find troubling. But to limit our understanding of Obama to the ill-conceived comments of the man who once led his church is dishonest and self-defeating.

Obama's strong positions on poverty and the climate, his early and consistent opposition to the Iraq War, his commitment to ending the Darfur genocide - all these speak directly to Jewish concerns. If we're sidetracked by Wright's words, we'll be working against these interests. After all, a preacher speaks to a congregation, not for the congregation.

Many people remain concerned that Obama isn't committed to Israel. Some want him to fall in line behind the intransigent, conservative thinking that has silenced Jewish debate on Israeli policy and enabled the Bush Administration's criminal neglect of the diplomatic process.

Clearly, though, anyone who thinks Obama waffles on Israel hasn't been paying attention. In 2007, he spoke to AIPAC about "a clear and strong commitment to the security of Israel." Today, his website states clearly that America's "first and incontrovertible commitment in the Middle East must be to the security of Israel."

For my part, I've sometimes found Obama too cautious on Israel. He, like all our politicians, knows he mustn't stray too far from the conventional line, and that can be disappointing. But unlike anyone else on the stump, Obama has also made it clear that he'll broaden the dialogue. He knows what peace entails.

Speaking recently before a Jewish audience in Cleveland, Obama did the unthinkable - he challenged the room. He talked about the need to ask "difficult questions" on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: "I sat down with the head of Israeli security forces," he said "and his view of the Palestinians was incredibly nuanced…. There's good and there's bad, and he was willing to say sometimes we make mistakes… and if we're just pressing down on these folks constantly, without giving them some prospects for hope, that's not good for our security."

Yet, in spite of all of Obama's strengths, we've been loathe to admit a difficult truth: Among some American Jews, race plays a key role in the hesitation to support the Obama candidacy. We've forgotten that Black and Jewish America once shared a common vision. In the civil rights era, I and many in our community stood shoulder to shoulder with the giants of our generation, demanding freedom for all Americans.

Obama himself doesn't share our amnesia, however. "I would not be sitting here," he said in Cleveland, "if it were not for a whole host of Jewish Americans." That was literal truth, but not everyone remembers it.

I've worked with Obama for more than a decade, as has my son, a lawyer who represents children and people with disabilities. He has admired Obama's dedication and skill as he worked on issues affecting our most vulnerable citizens.

Obama is no anti-Semite. He is not anti-Israel. He is one of our own, the one figure on the political scene who remembers our past, and has a real vision for repairing our present.

Barack Obama is brilliant and open-hearted; he is wiser and more thoughtful than his former minister. He offers what America, Israel, and the Jewish community need: a US President willing to ask hard questions, and grapple with difficult answers.

I am very proud to be his neighbor. I hope someday to visit him in the White House.

Rabbi Arnold Jacob Wolf is rabbi emeritus at Chicago's KAM Isaiah Israel, Illinois's oldest Jewish congregation.

I've been away for awhile in the Holy Land. While there I was saddened by the tragedy at Yeshivas Mercaz HaRav Kook. In my heart of hearts I know that Yeshua appeared to those 8 precious souls, as they entered eternity, and they received Him as Lord and Saviour!

Today, on the first Shabbos after Easter, Yeshua, our Lord Jesus Christ is appearing to all of you. Are you ready to accept Him?

Why not receive Him as Lord today!

While I may disagree with Rabbi Wolf's suport of Obama, I certainly support his candor and his value of and for America and Israel.

As Americans, we have FREEDOMS and RIGHTS that others in the world may not have. And so we have that same right and freedom to vote in who we think is the best candidate, just like we have the freedom and right (and should I add privilege to that too) to worship without fear and hold ourselves accountable to the Lord Almighty Himself. While we must obey the laws of the land, we still have freedoms.

Hinkind shouldn't step into the political picture like he did. Big mistake. He doesn't speak for the majority, though his idealogy has been echoed on CNN and FOX News anyway.

And yet again today he (Obama) is
talking about how he is going to try and prove he has never, ever heard a single PEEP of Separatist, Racist, Bigoted, Supremist, Talk...Hmmmm.......Me think's NOT.
Gee, what a super nice multi-million dollar mansion that Wright (Wreigh) is having built by Obama's money offerings for 20 years AND ONGOING, and the other very ill people that give money to Trinity church..Wonder if it is PAYOLA or HUSH MONEY. Bet there has been tons upon tons of offers to the Reverend Wright, just recently retired, just recently ya' know, to 'Spill the Beans' on his Man in Waiting for the Highest Office in the United States. If, If Obama is a true Christian, would not Israel be the utmost important place on the entire Earth? You see, the Bible says, "Jesus will return as he assended, with all the Angels of Heaven, In all his Power and Glory, to the Mount of Olives". Now the Mount of Olives is where Jesus asended and is to return. OBAMA THAT IS IN ISRAEL--->>>HELLO..Oh that's right, he's too busy trying to spin his web of tangeling and ongoing lies for all to fall for. Seems that there have been lots of Politicians caught lying. I am convinced that Obama will be proved a lier. I have to agree with Abraham on this one. Abraham is much closer to God than Obama is. Obama seems closer along with Wright to Mr.Down Below.

I am also a 5T resident, and under NO conditions would I vote for Hillary. You cannot trust a Clinton. I would absolutely vote McCain if Clinton were nominated...which I sincerely hope will not occur.

When Obama is nominated, and the race becomes Obama vs. McCain, I will make my final decision in November.

OM, i am truely disappointed. I used to be a big fan of yours but your coverage on the presedntial election has been pathetic. Mr. Hikind said he was scared by Obamas comments. Yes, he should be scared of that comment despite the fact that Hillary may belive the same way. While running for office, the comment that should be made about the middle east is "I, as President, will continue in the path of President Bush and fight to rid the world of terrorism." Anything short of that scares the hell out of me as weel. I havent heard Hillary make such a statement either, so she scares me just the same.
May we be zoche to have a rebulican run office for at least the next eight years to come.

The second to last anon is wrong. Both Hillary and Obama say we're going to hunt down and kill all the terrorists.

The only thing that's bothered me about Obama is Tony Wicher's blog being hosted on his site. But it might be possible to start a blog on that site without having to get Obama 's approval. Hopefully he'll remove the blog, which is very anti-Israel.

I have only one thing to say -- McCain/Hagee (http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/02/john_hagee_post.php). So by Hikind's logic, Jews won't be able to vote at all.

Remember when we held on in the rain.
The nights we almost lost it once again.
We can take the night into tomorrow
living on feelings

Touching you I feel it all again.

Didn't we almost have it all
when love was all we had worth giving?
The ride with you was worth the fall
my friend

Loving you makes life worth living!
Didn't we almost have it all

the nights we held on till the morning?
You know you'll never love that way again

Didn't we almost have it all?

The way you used to touch me felt so fine

We kept ovr hearts together down the line.
A moment in the soul can last forever
comfort and keep us

Help me bring the feeling back again!

Didn't we almost have it all
when love was all we had worth giving? . . .

Didn't we have the best of times
when love was young and new?
Couldn't we reach inside and find
that world of me and you?
We'll never lose it again

'Couse once you know what love is
you never let it end.
Didn't we almost have it all
when love was all we had worth giving? . . .
Didn't we almost have it all?

Thanks orthomom for saying it like it is. May we be zoche to have another 8 years of a Republican as one comment said. Why? because the last eight years of a US adminstration have really improved things for Israel? I grow weary of hearing my peops talk about how Obama is going sell us out to the Arabs when it was Bush playing pubescent girlfriend with Prince Bandar, holding his hand, borrowing a head dress and giving him a smooch. Jews wanting to kick out immigrants ??? I don't want to play the Holocaust card, but come on...
I am having this weird feeling that many people are no longer thinking with their cerebral cortex but with their cerebellum. I'll do homework for them-- I started a blog, hope you'll check it out.

Hey Orthomom...

The local election is near and you still didn't post anything about it...what happened to the 5 Towns topics of your blog?

6:04 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

To 6:04,
OM evidently has nothing else to blog about since SD 15 now has a perfect BOE that no longer has to be scrutinized. (and it will get even better after the next election!) Evidently, only Orthodox Jews are capable of running things properly and aren't in need of scrutiny, unlike those nefarious, selfish goyim. Perhaps in another 30 years or so when the public schools have advocates on the board again OM will make another appearance. Until then, however, shalom!

Putting OM's position aside, with respect to non-religious Jews who vote Dem about 75% of the time, they'll continue to vote Dem regardless of who the nominee is. Whether it's b/c of tradition ("my parents and grandparents voted that way, so it must be right") or misplaced Jewish ideology ("Judaism says to be nice to people, so as a Jew I must support abortion, gay rights, illegal aliens, etc"), they will not change their voting patterns. So even if the nominee is distasteful, they will subconciously rationalize supporting him anyway.

A guy in my shul, older gentleman, very lefty, voiced his fear of Obama, esp regarding his association w/ Wright. I listened but didn't say anything. I don't know if he'll vote for Obama anyway, but he probably will. Because that's the culture of liberal American Jews.

NEWS FLASH!!!!
Perhap's after now close to two years after the murder of GG, a family owned business that help establish this community perhaps we should now turn toward Rubashskin and the business practices and the FACT the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT has an ongoing investigation of the alleged activites of controlling pricing and crimmal behavior within our wonderful "frum only" membership. I personally can't wait to see the New York Times expose not only the tricky, cheating and stealing that one of your empowered "frum only" members as committed. I pray to live to see the day that the records of Rubashskin are exposed and see how many wonderful Rabbi's are on the payroll in "no show" jobs including Mr. Wonderful himself " Rabbi Yosef Eisen" In life one sometimes must have patience to see that justice is served,I personally especially since Rabbi Eisen started his demon like attacks against GG with the the spear that Rubashskin, though having 3 Supervisions sent in non-chometz, but NOT PASSOVER products into GG during Pesach ofwhich were recieved by the VAAD's own Mashiglach and the owner's were blamed for until a RECORDING, one of many that proved EISEN wrong.I find it extremely suspect after his efforts failed and he looked like a fool after Mark Bolender exposed the truth that he had to find anything, even a chicken, a kosher chicken,a mystery chicken, a chicken which never surfaced,a alleged customer who purchased this never appeared to face questions or produced a reciept?,for what? to re establish his character. May Hashem help us to forgive, but not forget the evil one's, even if they hide behind a black hat.Frum and crook doesn't equal Non-Frum and honest.THIS WAS JUST ONE BIG COVER UP AND SOMEONE GOT PAID MONEY TO PUT GOURMET GLATT OUT- I leave the rest to your thinking of who that may be and who paid for this to happen?, but one thing for sure he,they, must have been "Frum" because this puts them at level above approach. Shame on Orthomom if this is deleted, afterall you do believe in freedom of press.Perhaps this author will be quoted in the New York Times in the future. When Rubashskins go to jail and our acts of kindest wanting to send kosher food, please make sure it is under the Vaad of the Five Towns.
