Unfair Comparison
Amnesty International declared the U.S. prison camp at Guantanamo Bay "the gulag of our time" for the alleged mistreatment of prisoners and aggressive interrogation techniques that have come under fire in recent weeks. I mean, it's EXACTLY the same, isn't it? Oh, except for the thousands upon thousands of prisoners that died in the Gulag.

I'm just grateful they are not comparing it to a concentration camp (l'havdil). It drives me mad every time someone who does anything slightly objectionable is refered to as a Nazi. Maybe that is why I'm so edgy so much of the time....
As accurate as Gaza residents who compare the misguided policies of the Sharon government to practices of the Nazi regime
Shifra -- i totally didn't realize you were making almost the exact point. (look before you leap, I guess)
Yep that's what I'm talking about! Examples are always helpful though.
you have two identities: Shifra and AskShifra.
That's creepy.
It's not intentional, getting a blog messed me up.
I'm still adjusting.
Is this better?
i thought shifra and ask shifra were two different people
why bother, Use both names and have elaborate arguments with each other. It makes for good blogging. Why do you think I created DovBea...ooops.
So Ms. Zubaida Khan wants to compare Guantanamo to GULag. Why not look at prisons in moslem countries? Oh wait, she is a moslem.
