"Production Error" Update

I blogged last week about a correction issued by the NY Times, and how woefully inadequate an explanation I felt it was. Well, it looks like I wasn't the only one. The Times published a bunch of letters from readers who had a similar take. My only remaining question is, if the Times felt it necessary to publish 7 letters that all share the same criticism of the paper, how many more do you think the paper received?

You are aware that you are referring to a column by the Public Editor. He writes a column every other week about some issue where the paper felt short and in the opposite weeks, he has letters published from people who critcize or agree with his opinions.

The fact that most people disagreed with him and he printed their letters is pretty cool. The NY Times is far from perfect, but I think having someone shining a light on how things are done, good and bad, and allowing readings to respond is a very good.
