Crazy Kid Accoutrements

I think this diamond-encrusted pacifier, set at the reasonable price of $17,000, is a bit much...even for the babies of the most well-heeled of Five Towns residents.

But, when said infants turn 5, they can always get the "My First Bling-Bling" car for their Barbie dolls to ride in. Because whose Barbies don't need some bling of their own?

Until, of course, the kids can graduate to operate one of these babies, for $16,000 (slightly less than the diamond-encrusted pacifier). They will need it to have something to park in the driveway of the next item.

Because when their parents are interviewing contractors for the five-bedroom addition to their own house, why not tack on to the job the plans for this five-star backyard playhouse (the relatively well-priced $8,900 - not including labor)?

Where do you find this stuff Orthomom? It is too good to be true.

(Although, the playhouse might be an affordable way to add on if you live in a nice climate!)

You're just jealous. If you had that kind of money, I would love to see the kind of stuff you would throw it away on.

Call me cynical, but I don't think any of these items other than the Bling-Bling car (priced at approximately $12) was meant to do anything other than generate buzz. The working car replica and the house are both FAO Schwartz offerings -- they always have a number of over-the-top items to generate traffic.

The diamond pacifier is *clearly* designed to make it onto blogs and websites so that we can all be amused and/or shocked when we visit the link, then come back to order other items, priced at $1.99, $5, and $7. And, you know, a personalized pacifier for $7 is actually a pretty good value if you need a baby gift -- I bookmarked it for the future. So I guess getting OM and others to post it was a pretty good tactic!

Of COURSE that's what that pacifier is all about. But it's still pretty darn crazy.

How come the grass landscaping of the backyard playhouse isn't gold?

Doesn't seem to fit it with the rest of the neighborhood.

Rebba Shlita-We might have to buy one just to house the kids or the guests! This playhouse would increase our living space by about 20%.

The funny thing is that there is a house on Carlyle Street in Woodmere (I think between Edward and Forest) that has that SAME mini-house in the front yard!!
