I mentioned below that it seems nigh impossible to win a war against an enemy that embeds itself among its own civilians. But this development makes me even more hopeless about the nature of the enemy we face:

It's time for Muslim leaders to examine their teachings and philosophy, and figure out exactly what it will mean to be a Muslim from now on. I *know* that moderate Muslims find this kind of thing reprehensible, and distance themselves from it. But that's not enough - if they want to avoid an "us vs them" philosophy in the Western world, they're going to have to speak out and create changes from within.

Truly a despicable enemy. And, because I am selfish, I must relate this back to myself. I am a frequent traveller with my two young kids. Do you realize how many times I am now stopped? Given the "random" special security check? Having my kids scream their heads off while nasty security personnel roughly frisk their little bodies? The Western World must join together. Expell all Muslims from their countries and then nuke them all. Because until we do that, the only scenario that will eventually get played out will be the opposite.

In their minds, they are giving their child the greatest honor and glory imaginable--to die as a martyr for the cause of Islam. I know a number of Sephardi Jews who look quite Middle Eastern and they have no problem being pulled aside every time they get on a plane or go places. They know what they look like and they know how their last names sound. They are ine with it because they know that it is making them safer, even if it is unbelievably inconvenient. I can see the point of "racial profiling" if it simply means extra security checks, interviewing etc. But the comments above were far stronger than that.
BTW, as someone else pointed out, not all Muslims are middle-eastern looking. Converts seem to be used specifically, possibly to get past security checks.
