An Interesting Rosh Hashana Experience
I was walking to shul this morning with the two youngest Orthokids and we stopped at an intersection to wait for the light to change. As we waited, a ginormous black Cadillac Escalade, all tricked out with shiny spinning rims, glides by, windows down, music blasting. The song? Matisyahu's "Youth". Let me tell you, I caught quite the look of bewilderment on second-to-youngest Orthokid's face.
The world's a strange, strange place, my friends.
Shana Tovah to all.

strange world it certainly is.
L'Shana Tova to you and yours.
Say it had been a group my kids know, like Yeshiva Boys Choir, my kids would have started dancing, and I would have cracked up.
i guess the bewilderment is similar to the time i was watching the local sunday music video show and a matisyahu clip appeared in between all the other pop/rap/hip hop/rock music. bizarre considering i'm not sure how many non-jewish australians would know what 'Moshiach Now' means.
shana tova :)
But was he going to schule?
I think Matisyahu is a busha. It's terrible to think that there are people grinding in clubs and partying and doing other bad things to music that is about judaism and has jewish words in it. he couldn;t just keep his music amongst us. You don't see anyone driving around on yom tov listening to MBD.
Last Saturday we were driving to soccer practice and actually we listening to Yeshiva Boys Choir. My whole family loves to listen to them, next time we'll roll down the windows and let pedestrians enjoy:)
